For the past two or three weeks I have been receiving daily spam comments on my blog from the same individual, Bill – no, not Clinton, Gates or kill – Bartmann. Judging by the various web links he tried to sneak into my blog, he is some sort of get rich quick schemer, or something like that.

Apparently, Bartmann has been on CNBC’s “Big Idea”. Homeless to billionaire to bankruptcy it said on the YouTube video. I suppose his appearance on the programme says a lot about CNBC, too.
Do you really think, Billy, spamming my blog is such a profitable idea and did you honestly think that I would fall for it? I’ll let you into a secret. I almost did for about five seconds but then you kept going. You are a big boy now, Billy, did nobody ever tell you to stop at the right time?
Other spammers try only once and then move on but Billy keeps going. His persistence makes me laugh. It is almost admirable.
When Bartmann realised from his first few, very short comments along the lines of “Great site, love the info” and “Hey good stuff…keep up the good work!” that I did not publish his comments, he went onto more elaborate messages. The last one read:
Great site…keep up the good work. I read a lot of blogs on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your blog. Thanks,
A definite great read…
Ah, thanks, Bartmann. If you were sincere, I would almost appreciate it.
Billy boy, I am pretty sure that you will find this post. How long will it take you? A day? Two days?
Here is a proposal for you: Comment on this post if you dare but you have to say something intelligent and honest. If I like what you say, I promise I’ll post it on this blog (sans the link, obviously).
If you do not like the idea, take a hint and shimmy off.
Can anyone elaborate on what scams Bill Bartmann is involved in???
I haven’t found anything on the net except here, so if anyone can provide more I would appreciate it.
Thanks
bilkedbybill, I would love to hear more about what happened to you. Why did you give him money?
Good article, thank you.
As a person who gave him over 10k I have to say he is the smartest and most charismatic scammer I have ever met.
It does surprise me that he is working you all as well…he is the scorpion and cant help but sting those frogs that believe his lies.
Why thank you for your kind words!
I was contacted by Bill again today (although the email was the same, it was signed Tony Brown). Hmm… a change of tactics, I guess he thinks I’m pretty gullible!
Great photography .. by the way!
But you are special, Active Leisure. Billy B. might not appreciate your qualities as an individual but the rest of us do.
Ahhhh… and I thought I was special.
After an easy google for Bill Bartmann blog spam, I stumbled on your post. Thanks for calling him out. I too have been receiving short messages from good ‘ol Billy Boy for about 2 weeks now. And, today he ramped it up with his ever so sincere email about how incredible my substance was.
I’m blogging about my unemployment.. and though it may be mildly entertaining.. full of “substance” it is not! http://activeleisure.wordpress.com
He certainly is persistent… thanks to the blog gods for spam blockers!
