The undeliverable Christmas card

We take postal services for granted but think about it for a moment and you realise that they are an amazing achievement for society … The premise that taxpayer-owned services cannot be run well is as much a fallacy as the current fashion of putting profits before service is hideously absurd.

Double dip

After this morning’s gloom, there are patches of blue sky over the studio. We also learned that the country is in a double-dip recession and apparently the recent rain was the wrong type of rain.

This is the time of the year when the wildlife behaves a bit recklessly, busy mating and preparing nests and such. Soon we will welcome all the new-born wildlife to our planet. These are not romantic, sentimental times: The roads are littered with dead animals. Please, spare a thought for the wildlife, anticipate the unexpected and don’t be a killer.

Other people have captive fish in their garden ponds. We have a pair of wild ducks.

For the last eleven weeks I have been on a diet. I thought that I would share some of my healthy, vegetarian recipes on my blog.

What is now a veritable tree first appeared some years ago as an inconspicuous shrub in the hedge. I am a very liberal gardener and what appears out of its own accord can stay. My attempts at identifying the tree have so far failed.

The obliging flock of birds

As the light was fading the other afternoon I rushed out to photograph the moon and was greeted by a large, fast moving flock of small birds. There were considerably more than twenty of them and they were flying in formation.
