Aspiring models often ask me whether they need a portfolio to become a model. Search terms used to come to the Models Guide on my site and this blog suggest that many aspiring models are not sure whether and how much they should pay for a model portfolio.

If you want to become a model, the most important message is that you do not need a model portfolio.

I would like to hear from unusual looking people. Unusual in this context means anything that is either self-caused or nature-given, permanent and different.

The philosophy behind the photographs is to make the point that looks are unimportant. The photographs are personal work for my own portfolio.

Pay is by agreement, either at my standard rates or “for time”, which means that you receive digital images and/or prints instead of money. This may be your chance to get a free photo session.

Requirements:

Age range: Minimum age is 18 but there is no upper age limit

Sex: Males and females

Experience and skills: Previous modelling experience is not necessary

The bull wants security above all else, emotionally as well as financially.

Taurus plans things thoroughly and only ventures out if all systems are double-checked and ready to go. Never a quick decision. Because of the strong need for security, Taurus likes to own things (especially food, clothes too and rubber bands).

Let’s face it, she is a bit boring.

The ram loves nothing better than the thrill of the moment. Aries is impulsive and acts before asking.

She is reckless and determined. Nothing will stand in her way. Aries make great leaders and politicians but invariably become deranged and dangerous.

Aries people are a great asset on a skydiving photo shoot. Not as models but to push models out of the plane – Aries is always better at organising and bossing people around than at doing things.

As a model, Aries is very convincing on a fetish photo shoot where she can model as a mistress of domination and pain.

Jenny from Ireland informs me that the modelling scam, which is described as the photographer’s rep scam on my website, now runs as Queens Modelling, claiming to represent Mark Phillip.

I have no information on whether there is a genuine Queens Modelling agency or a genuine Mark Phillip.

Amanda is an experienced model, whose delicate beauty is alluring to the photographer.

Makeup on the shoot was provided by the uniquely talented Hollie Lewis. My brief was to create a pleasing but very natural image that would allow the model to remain herself and to highlight her natural beauty.

Hollie is only young, still learning and training to become a makeup artist, yet I have hardly worked with anyone, who was as perceptive to my ideas as Hollie.

The fish spends her life confused and lives in an ivory tower. She has a strong desire not to be alone.

Pisces are often psychic and have the ability to predict. She is usually gifted in the creative department, but her emotions can be problematic.

Pisces like peace and quiet, hate surprises and simply cannot say no. Pisces models contribute to a chaotic photo shoot by providing a stabilising influence and restoring the calm balance.
