Documents To Go v2 update problems

Wolf | May 23rd, 2010 - 00:38

When I tried to update Documents To Go on my Blackberry to version 2, the installation did not finish. It froze the home screen and locked the keypad, which could then not be unlocked in any of the usual ways. Most of the other functions were also inaccessible. My network provider, Vodafone, even offered to send a replacement for my device.

If you are updating to v2, remove the old version first. If you have tried to install v2 over an older version and experience problems, here are the steps, which I took to resolve the problem:

1. Connect Blackberry to computer. When asked whether you want to turn on mass storage mode, select no on the BB.

2. Start BB Desktop Manager and select Application Loader.

3. Click “start” under Add / Remove Applications.

4. Scroll down until you find Documents To Go and untick it.

5. Click next and follow instructions.

6. Wait for the operations to be carried out and your BB should come back to life. Mine did.

This post applies to the Blackberry Bold 9700. Not sure about other versions.
