Fickle Luna and dog lady

The waxing moon setting at midnight towards west northwest. Photograph Wolf Kettler.

Certain things in life seem to vanish for no particular reason. People, for instance, or interests. And keys. You think that you have misplaced them but no, they just walk out of your life without a word, without a sound, without a final wave.

For me it was the moon that I had not seen in weeks. I was getting quite worried and cooked up a collection of assorted conspiracy theories but last night Luna was back, setting already around midnight towards west northwest.

The reason I had missed her so persistently is evidently that Luna is on a funny rota these days, as is the lady, who walks her dog early in the morning, just about the time that I have finished in the bathroom and get dressed, looking out of the window and greeting the new day. I had not seen her once in the last couple of weeks and, as I was saying, I was getting quite worried, cooking up a collection of … you get the idea. This morning, she walked her dog as if their routine had never been disturbed.

I am pleased to see both of them back, fickle Luna and the dog lady.
