Hi there.
I am a 19 year old Chinese female in South Africa and really want to do modelling. I have an open interview tomorrow and am very nervous, because I have no experience at all. I don’t have a portfolio or even know what to expect! Any advice?

Hi Heather,

yes, you are being scammed. It is known as an advance fee fraud. The cheque that you received will bounce. I would advise you to throw away the cheque (or hang it on your wall) and do not communicate any further with these people.

You could report it to the police but my guess is that they won’t be particularly interested.

Hi I am from Indiana in the US and I am worried I am being scammed but im not sure I need your help I put my stats up on a modeling site called photomodels.com and 2 days later i got an email from a guy named Damon Ngyugen claiming to be a freelance modeling agent out of London he said he woked for GuyComms modeling agency and he wanted to hire me for a photo shoot for Exodus clothing line and he would would send his whole crew out to my state for the photo shoot he said he would pay me ahead of time and I would just need to give him my address and phone number so he can send me payment ahead of time so i did and after that i didnt hear from him for 2 weeks until 4 days before the shoot is supose to be he tells me I should be getting the check in the mail and he told me i had to cash the check at the bank deduct my part and send the rest of the money ($2,000)to the wardrobe stylist?????? And I know if i was to cash that check and it was a bad check I would get charged for it i would have to pay $2,000 to the bank right ?so am I being scammed ?

I have a question regarding what I read about the modeling scams. I live in Los Angeles California.there was this modeling I guess you can say modeling agency but they called me in for an “audition” but theytold me I had to pay $150 for my portfolio pictures . Is that really how it works? Or should I see if I can get my money back ? What should I do ?

Your site is very infomative, thank you. I was wondering if you could recommend some shops in London/North London to get good quality prints made up please? I have my photos on CD and need to print my 8x10s for my portfolio.

Could you also give me a guide price on what I should expect to be paying for an 8×10 print?

hello,

I am 20 living in the the UK. i recently sent a photo to the company ‘ukmodels’. This is not an agency but helps people get into the industry. I have just received a call from them saying i have potential and that they would like to arrange a shoot in london for a £100 deposit. They say this will give a better idea of how i am infront of the camera and that if i like the photos then i can buy a portfolio ansd they will give me a database of different agensies to send it to. If i am not happy the £100 will be given back. Is this company legitimate?

hi i have just been taken on by a agency in london called xxx [*] models thay sent me to xxxxxxxx [*] studios for a photo shoot thay want 400 pound are thay a scam agency or ok can you help kind recards denise
