The situation had something distinctly surreal about it and somehow felt like a modern day slave market. We were sitting in my living room, Georgi, my makeup artist, I, the photographer, and Amy, the model. The rain outside seemed to make a point that there was a real world and then there was our world.
Georgi and I congratulated each other on the choice of model and how her looks exceeded our expectations. We discussed her skin, her freckles and her hair. There was no doubt that we loved her. Loved her, like you love a particularly well crafted piece of furniture or an exquisite meal. Amy looked at us with a mixture of disbelief and pity. She did not get it.
“I am just my parents combined”, she said with a fleeting smile. “Nothing special, only genes.”
Amy surprised me because she did not focus on her looks. She was not even interested in seeing the photographs of herself and she allowed me to gaze deep into her soul that is home to a beautiful mind. Here is a set of photographs from our photo session.
Model: Amy Louise Kibler
Makeup: Georgi Bliha
