I am not at all technology addicted but I do believe that working with reliable, appropriate equipment is as much part of a great service as the warm welcome and the delicious cup of coffee. When I received a set of new studio lights, they needed testing and, as I do not keep models in my wardrobe (they need regular feeding and constant attention), this was a brilliant excuse for a self-portrait.

Good old Whittard

Probably the best cup of coffee in the country is served at the studio of Wolf Kettler Photographer.

I was on the radio this morning and talked to Phil Dawson, the station founder and presenter of the breakfast show on Fantasy Radio UK, about how difficult it is to experience a thoroughly satisfying coffee moment in Britain. Probably the best cup of coffee in the country is served … chez moi. And Whittard of Chelsea and I are celebrating our silver anniversary.

I documented a moment in the life of London when I was sat comfortably over a warming cup of coffee in a café in Godliman Street in the City of London.

The other day I met three very handsome horses in a field and spotted the opportunity to add to my unplanned portraits. “Hello, friend”, they all whinnied, except the little one, who was hiding but becoming ever more curious.

How may I serve you?

Word must have got out about how passionate I feel about my work. When national photography magazine Digital Photographer were writing an article about the service aspect in a photography business for their “go professional” guide, they came to me for an interview.

Another photograph from my series “unplanned portraits”. If you come for coffee, it is very likely that you will have a camera pointed at you.

Photographing people is what I do for a living and it is always a privilege that my clients allow me to look into their souls.

Poor Grace

Poor Grace, she was so cold when she arrived at my house that I had to wrap her in a blanket before administering hot coffee.

Morning coffee in the garden in early October. We are under the illusion of sitting lazily in the summer sun.
