SlideShowPro and WordPress

If you are having troubles getting SlideShowPro to work in WordPress, this may help.

Putting a SlideShowPro presentation into WordPress is straightforward and works in most cases. Here is a problem, which I ran into.

The problem:
I have a WordPress blog hosted on my site and wanted to add SlideShowPro content, which was generated from Adobe Lightroom. I tried using the code suggested by the SSP Wiki and the more extensive code from the Kimili wizard. Kimili is the WordPress plugin you need to get it all to work.

Instead of seeing my flash movie, I got … nothing. The references to my flash movie, which I had set up in my post, did not show up in the published page (check by looking at the page source of your published page).

The solution:
Issue 1: My webspace provider was using a version of php, which was not entirely compatible with WordPress. Once corrected, the flash movie was displayed on the WordPress page.

Issue 2: The movie was not using any of my custom options, i.e. it was not reading the parameters xml file. The SSP Wiki entry for the Kimili plug-in suggests as file reference slideshowpro.swf but the correct reference should be loader.swf.

A big thank you to the endlessly patient Paul K. Jeffrey, technical services director at EasySpace, who never becomes intolerant of my usually very strange web problems, to Tim McFadden of SlideShowPro, who spotted the reference to the wrong swf file immediately and to Michael, who wrote the Kimili plugin.

Hi There, I’m having the same problem, and have now spent many hours trying to find where I’m going wrong. I have the Kimili plug in activated, etc. I’m wondering if where I’m pointing the kimili embed code is perhaps wrong

I did a slideshow from within LR, (slideshow pro) saved it to my desktop, named the file “slideshows” thus on my embed code:

…com.au/slideshows/loader.swf + height, width and base info – is this correct??

When I go to …com.au/slideshows the slide show appears. Any suggestions? :) (I’m dying here..)

Kimili flash embed pref = SWF = loader.swf

    thanks in advance!

I find using Google Picasa is perfect for generating very simple photo slide shows to use on a Blog site
