When I was on holiday last week, I discovered at my parents’ house an old slide of me. It was taken in February 1982 and I was dressed up for Fasching (carnival). I was very young then, which makes me wonder how and when time has passed.
If I remember rightly, I was on the way out with my then-girlfriend and her two sisters to the Höhlenforscherball, an annual carnival’s event, which I can only describe as a massive and very mad party in a country inn with live music, an overcrowded dance floor, food and floods of drink. The beauty of attending a ball at a country inn is that you can party all night and finish off with breakfast before heading home.
Today, the 1980s seem very dated and tatty, but this is probably already changing. Then, there was nothing more stylish than the times in which we were living, when men were still allowed to wear makeup and pink scarves.
