Summer Solstice at Avebury

Wolf | June 21st, 2010 - 10:33

Nature invites us to rest in the refreshing shade of a lush tree. The sun warms our bodies and brightens our minds. As we celebrate light, the shortest night and the longest day, we also celebrate the continuity of time and know that the only certainty is change.

After today, the beginning of true summer, the days are getting shorter again.

Let us forget for a while that we are already heading towards autumn. Let us lie together in the soft grass underneath the old greengage tree and feel the summer breeze brushing gently against our naked skin.

Revellers gather at the ancient stone circles at Avebury in preparation for the summer solstice celebrations.

Tourists document their visit to Avebury.

Avebury is not only a mystical place, it also has a chocolate box side.
