I must be one of the least well informed people on this planet. I have learned, four days after the event, that the plans for sand quarries at Bromham and Rowde have been killed. But are they well and truly dead?

Question: What do a hyperactive mole and an unwanted quarry have in common? Answer: Everything.

The suggested formation of a government-sanctioned residents’ mob is neither power to the people nor democracy in action.

One of our cats is always on duty and I cannot work out their rota. It is a very complicated system – just like politics and the fight against the quarry at site C18.

It seems fitting to welcome the infantile New Year with a photograph from the old year.

Like a mysterious stranger in a chance encounter, the land lies waiting to lift her veils and to expose her true nature. The beauty of a misty November morning never fails to captivate my mind.

When the Bromham quarry proposals became first known to residents less than two months ago, I started a photography project documenting “the destruction of a village”. I have now published some of this work in my book “I Object”.
