Who says ‘never work with children or animals’? I like working with both. They are unpredictable and curious but they are also thoroughly untroubled by a man with a camera, which makes them good photography subjects.

This series of photographs of a French watchmaker at work is the result of an impulsive request by her employer. I did not have any lighting equipment in my shoulder bag and used only available light. I wanted to interpret her professional skills and her concentration as much as her vibrant youth.
