Some time ago I published a fantasy, a bittersweet memory fragment of a ballerina’s life, who retired twenty years ago.
Today’s intimate portrait of a dancer is a flashback to when the ballerina was still young and full of hope and enthusiasm.
My collaborator was the very bendy, professional, classically trained dancer Adele, who was already my Face Of Summer earlier this year. My aim was to create a series of dance photos, which would not merely focus on the movement but allow me to gaze into the dancer’s mind and stay there for a while. The photographs were conceived at my studio.
The titles of the two posts are, of course, a reference to the beautiful 1975 Atlantic Records vinyl LP “Tango Nuevo”, which features the collaboration of Astor Piazzolla with Gerry Mulligan in the autumn of 1974. The music on this record seems to express perfectly what I had in mind with my series of photographs.
