The photographer’s cat

Wolf | September 20th, 2010 - 14:22

I was packing equipment for my Bromham quarry photography project, agonising over whether to take light stands or use on-camera flash. The plan for this afternoon is to photograph a woman, her daughter and two horses, and afterwards a gentleman with his collection of classic cars – similar theme, I suppose.

I had only left the room briefly but I should have known that a bag, especially an unintentionally left open and unguarded one, is an irresistible invitation to any self-respecting cat. This is Kaspar seconds after he had quietly and stealthily taken possession of my lighting equipment bag.

Keen readers of my blog will have spotted the absence of a collar. It came off yesterday, not for the first time and only after a long-lasting steroid injection. We are nervously waiting to see whether he can resist the temptation to scratch himself open again. Kate, the vet, thinks that an allergy has caused the problems. If she is right, I am sure that it will be a particularly difficult to diagnose allergy.

Whilst keen readers may have immediately picked up on the collar, the keen reader with a long memory will know that this is not the first time that Kaspar has shown an interest in photographic luggage.

Does this mean that he wants to become a photographer or is he content to be a photographer’s cat?

Hi, I am doing another photography college course at the moment trying to improve on bits I need to!any hints please let me know!
Due to health reasons I had to find something that I can work around as I’m not reliable to work for anyone else now, so this helps feed a small animal shelter I run plus a charity I support and keep me out of trouble!
I love photography, animals and art, so it’s nice to combine them all!
    Anyway!!……
My cat Salem does exactly the same, nosey, plus the first time I had set up equipment in my living room he went straight over to the backdrop I had got ready, stood infront of it and posed for me by looking over his shoulder! he did suprise me, he too is all black.
    Pets are great!!
    Sue.
