Environmental Policy |
Everyone of us is responsible for the environment. Less consumption, less waste of resources, and more space and respect for nature lead to a smaller impact of my activities on the environment. Carbon emissions Much of my work is done from home, thus eliminating carbon emissions from commuting. For location work, I use a smaller than average, fuel-efficient car. Compared to 1997, I have cut my fuel consumption by 64%. Compared to 1997, in the same property, I have cut my electricity consumption by 36% by taking these steps: PC power managed & shut down when not in use. Other electrical appliances turned off at the wall rather than put on stand-by when not in use. Use of energy-efficient lightbulbs. Turning off lights in rooms which are not used. Over the same period, I have reduced my air travel by around 50%. Waste I use recycled paper wherever possible. My notepads are made in-house from scrap paper. Paper is shredded and taken for recycling. Materials, for which I have access to recycling facilities, are recycled. Nature The garden surrounding my home is a nature and wildlife-friendly environment free from chemicals and overly eager human intervention. All garden waste is composted. |
