TFCD and how to become a model with Wolf's Models Guide, a photographer's resource guide for aspiring models

Fair Pay Policy for Photographic Modelling Work

I operate a fair pay policy. Fair means that I pay an appropriate rate, but I do not give in to inflated expectations.

Appropriate rate means that the rates I pay have been researched from various sources, which examine rates for photographic models, life models, and TV and movie extras. Rates are reviewed regularly. Modelling experience is taken into account.

Rates: My rates are quoted per session, not per hour, and are for work during daytime on weekdays. A photo session will on average last between 1½ and 2 hours.

Day rates for modelling are typically quoted for a 9-hour day and then divided into hourly rates. For comparison, the equivalent average day rates are from £199 to £264.

I pay the same rate for all types of work, clothed or nude. All models have to sign a standard model release form, which attracts no extra payment.

Experienced, professional full-time models (published)

£58.00/session

Experienced, professional full-time models (no major publications)

£42.50/session

Experienced full-time or part-time life models (depending on level of experience)

£35.00 - £42.50
p. session

Part-time and amateur models with substantial experience

£37.50/session

Part-time models with little experience; aspiring models, beginners and other amateurs with little or no experience

£32.00/session

Travel expenses: For work at my studio, a flat rate of £14.50 is paid towards travel expenses, irrespective of where the model travels from. This amount comes on top of the rates quoted above. As for everybody else, it is the model's responsibility to get to her place of work, which is in line with the policies of most major studios and production companies.

Payments are made either by bank transfer to the model's bank account or by cheque. I do not pay in cash.

Images: I may give a small number of digital images as a bonus if the session went particularly well. I do not give a CD with all images taken during a photo session.

TFCD and PFT: I do not normally offer TFCD (time for CD) or PFT (prints for time). If you want prints or digital images from the photo session, you can buy a contact sheet at a nominal price and order prints and digital files at a discounted rate.
