TFCD and how to become a model with Wolf's Models Guide, a photographer's resource guide for aspiring models

Models Guide: Clothes, hair, nails and skin
or: don't go out with a dirty neck

How to turn up at a photo shoot (for time or paid) depends on what you have pre-agreed with the photographer. Sometimes, a make-up artist is used on a TFCD or PFT shoot, sometimes not. Sometimes, the photographer will supply clothes, sometimes not. Paid shoots will almost always involve makeup artists.

If you promised to do your own hair and make-up, be sure that you can do a proper job. Always arrive not made up and discuss the make-up with the photographer.

Nothing is more annoying than problem skin. Greasy areas, spots or oversized pores will always show in a close-up. There is no such thing as airbrushing you to beauty and there is a limit to what make-up can do. Deal with any problem areas well in advance.

Tell the photographer in advance of any imperfections. This will not result in you being rejected but in the photographer being able to plan his shoot appropriately.

It can help save time, though, to arrive with your nails "ready to go". It depends. Discuss it with the photographer.

Discuss your hair style with the photographer and ensure that you arrive with your hair freshly washed.

As an (aspiring) model you want to look after your general health and fitness. Only a toned body looks good, and this means exercising at least a couple of times a week to build up muscle tissue and to get rid of any unsightly fat deposits, usually around your hips, bottom and thighs (girls) and stomach (boys).
