Models, photographers, sex and such

We are all excited

No, we are not. Sex is no longer a big thing. You may be worried or curious whether having sex with the photographer will enhance you career: Of course it does not. Supermodel career in exchange for sex does not happen.

No respectable photographer assumes that the model will have sex with him. Equally, no respectable model assumes to be offered work in exchange for sex. No respectable photographer will "touch you up", but don't imagine that just because he touches you to move you into a position, he has dishonest intentions. Most physical contact is part of human communication and has nothing to do with inappropriate behaviour or sexual harassment.

If you honestly do feel harassed on a shoot, tell the photographer and explain why. More often than not, it is a misunderstanding. Make your feelings known in a calm manner. If you don't get anywhere, get out.

If you feel like having sex with the photographer - great; but stay professional and wait until after the shoot and don't be offended if you get turned down.

Photographer participation in nude shots

For most photography assignments, photographer participation is a definite no-no. On pornographic shoots I am told that it happens regularly. I have heard some amusing stories of how some photographers explain why they need to participate in a shoot: The excuses range from saving money for a second (male) model to the "noble act" of helping a client, who suffers from a sexual dysfunction, by providing stimulating photos.

I can imagine situations in artistic projects where photographer participation may be acceptable, even vital. You probably have to accept the artist's explanation and if you decide that it is okay, then so be it.

If you want to have sex with the photographer, fine, but don't fall for some pathetic excuse and regret it afterwards.
