How to look after your prints

Handling: Handle your prints with care and touch them at the edges only to avoid fingerprints.

Always hold prints with two hands on opposite sides to avoid bends.

Protect your prints from dust, liquids, excessive humidity and other mechanical or chemical impact.

Storage: Unless you are planning to mount your prints in an album or picture frame, you should keep them in their sleeves on a flat surface (e.g. in the portfolio box) and in a dry spot. This will protect them from damage and fading.

Ordinary plastic folders will damage prints over time.

If you must store your prints together and not in archival quality sleeves, put a clean sheet of paper between the indi-vidual prints or you will, over time, cause damage to the photographs.

Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight will bleach (fade) prints and cause discolouration. Do not leave or display your prints where strong, direct sunlight catches them for extended periods every day.
